Welcome

Welcome to our website about the Mansion of Louis-Hippolyte LaFontaine which is a historical site at risk in Montreal, Quebec.  This website was designed to raise awareness about who LaFontaine was and why it is important to preserve his former residence.

The website is broken down into four sections with different sub-headings.  One section is completely designated to LaFontaine’s biography in order to comprehend the legacy he left behind in Canada.  Another section specifically explains the significance of his mansion which is not only historically important, but architecturally and politically as well. The news feed section is meant to inform the public of instances when the mansion was mentioned in the media.

A documentary video has been added to this website concerning the issues represented on this website and advocates for the restoration of this fine piece of Canadian history. Below you will find the Heritage Minute about LaFontaine and Robert Baldwin.

If you believe the Mansion is important, please feel free to visit and sign our online petition. With the support of likeminded Canadians who understand the importance of preserving Canadian heritage, we can have the LaFontaine Mansion restored. Thank you for visiting and we hope you leave with a greater understanding of LaFontaine and his Mansion's significance within Canadian history.
